Easter, also called Pascha or Resurrection Sunday, is a festival and holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, described in the New Testament as having occurred on the third day of his burial after his crucifixion by Romans at Calvary c. 30 AD. It is the culmination of the Passion of Christ, preceded by Lent (or Great Lent), a forty-day period of fasting, prayer, and penance.

On April 24, 2016, the Post of Moldova has released a new stamp dedicated to folk traditions and Christian festivals in particular ("Sărbători creştine şi tradiţii populare") through the celebration of Palm Sunday ("Floriile" in Romanian). Designed by Elena Karachentseva, that stamp (L 1.75, print run : 200.000) appears on the special envelope below (design : Maria Maximenco, print run : 10,000) published on the occasion of Easter ("Sfintele Paşti"), sent on April 25, 2016 from Chișinău (MD-2012).
