On 29 December 1993, the Post of Moldova issued its first ever EUROPA stamps (L 0.03 and L 1.50), devoted this year to the theme of Modern Art. Together with Lithuania, Moldova was one of the first two former republics of the USSR to issue EUROPA stamps, the year of the creation of PostEurop, the association of European public postal operators (Moldova became a PostEurop's member only in 1996). On 29 December 2018, the Post of Moldova issued a special postmark (design: Lilian Iaţco) dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the issue of these first EUROPA stamps..
