Children's Day is a commemorative date celebrated annually in honor of children, whose date of observance varies by country. In 1925, International Children's Day was first proclaimed in Geneva during the World Conference on Child Welfare. Since then, it is celebrated on June 1 in most countries. In 1989, the United Nations established an International Day of the Rights of the Child, which is celebrated every year on November 20, but in most of Eastern Europe countries (including the former USSR republics), an International Children's Day is established each June 1st (that day coinciding with the start of the school holidays). On June 1, 2017, the Post of Moldova had put into circulation an interesting prepaid envelope (1.75 L) dedicated to this International Children's Day ("Ziua Internaţională a Copilului" in Romanian). .
