On January 31, 1992, the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Korea formally established diplomatic relations, five months after the declaration of independence of Moldova (on August 27, 1991) and one month after its international recognition (on December 25, 1991). The two countries do not have respective embassies, but honorary consuls are present in each country. After People's Republic of China on January 30, 2017, the Post of Moldova put into circulation on January 31, 2017, a new special postmark devoted to the 25th anniversary of these diplomatic relations with the Republic of Korea.
