On January 24, 2018, the Post of Moldova issued a special cancellation devoted to the 10th anniversary of the twinning ("10 ani de înfrățire") between the cities of Chişinău, capital of the country, and Iaşi, the 4th largest city in Romania. Iaşi was the capital of the Principality of Moldavia between 1564 and 1859, then one of the two capitals of the United Principalities of Moldavia and Wallachia between 1859 and 1862, and was even the capital of Romania between 1916 and 1918. We can thus understand these historical links between the two cities, Iaşi being located in the east of Romania, not far from the Moldovan border..
