Although having made her career in Romania, Stela Popescu (1935-2017) was born in Slobozia-Hodorogea (a town located today in Moldova). His father was deported to Siberia in 1940 after the invasion of Bessarabia by the Soviets, Stela then leaving her region, with her mother, to settle in Brasov in neighboring Romania. She performed at the Brasov Theater (over 400 performances a year) and then at the Constantin Tănase Theater in Bucharest and the Comedy Theater from 1969.. Read more..
