At the end of the 1960s and the beginning of the 1970s, the great folk music scenes of Moldova were dominated by a "beautiful peasant woman, without hairstyle or manicure", nicknamed the "Edith Piaf of Moldova". She received standing ovations in crowded halls, gave new colors to Romanian music and inspired people with her courage and talent, but she was destroyed by the indifference and envy of some colleagues, such was the destiny of the Moldovan folk music singer, Maria Drăgan...
