As it's the case every year, the Post of Moldova has issued on July 20, 2013, a new set of two stamps dedicated to two famous personalities native from the historical region of Bessarabia ("Basarabia"). As a reminder and to make it simple, this region was annexed by Russia in 1812, then part of Romania between 1918 and 1944 and of USSR until 1991. Bessarabia is shared since 1991 between Moldova (two thirds of the territory) and Ukraine (one third of the territory). Read more..
