On August 28, 2013, the Post of Moldova has issued an interesting souvenir sheet dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the birth of the poet, writer, activist, teacher and theologian Alexei Mateevici (1888-1917). Alexei Mateevici is considered as one of the greatest poets of Bessarabia with many works like Ţăranii ("Peasants"), Eu cânt ("I sing") or Ţara ("The Country") as well as articles published about religion or Moldovan folklore. The preview sale of this sheet (print run : 50,000) took place in the village of Zaim (Căuşeni district, south-east of the country) where his family moved from 1893. Mateevici's family is shown on this photograph dating from 1902 (to the left on the official FDC below) in front of their house in Zaim, that is today a Museum.
