Diplomatic Relations with Germany - 25 Years 2017

The Federal Republic of Germany recognized the independence of the Republic of Moldova on December 14, 1991 and diplomatic relations between the two countries were officially established on April 30, 1992. The two countries quickly opened their respective diplomatic missions : the German Embassy in Chişinău on November 2, 1992 and the Moldovan Embassy in Bonn (then in Berlin) on March 28, 1995. Germany is one of the main economic partners of Moldova and plays a major political role in the European integration of Moldova or for a peaceful settlement of the conflict with Transnistria. Human ties finally link the two countries, in particular the episode marking the arrival of German settlers from 1814, after the Russian-Turkish war. The Post of Moldova had issued a stamp in 2014 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the arrival in Bessarabia of these German settlers. Read more..
