For the year 2013, the parliament of the Republic of Moldova has decided to pay tribute to Spiridon Vangheli (born 1932), author and translator of children's books. The work of Vangheli, twenty stories published since 1962, is characterized by generous, ingenious and dreamers characters. Spiridon Vangheli is considered as the direct heir of the Romanian writer Ion Creanga, with whom he shares a strong commitment to rural culture and defense of the Latin alphabet. To commemorate this Year "Spiridon Vangheli", the Moldovan Post issued on June 1, 2013, a nice set of two stamps (L 1.75 each, total print run : 100,000).
