Liviu Damian (March 13, 1935, Corlăteni, Bălți, România — July 20, 1986, Chişinău, Moldavian SSR, USSR) was an author, essayist, journalist, poet, cultural person, Romanian writer and translator from the Republic of Moldova, a representative of the generation of the 1960s. Liviu Damian studied at the Faculty of History and Philology of the State University of Moldova between 1955 and 1960 then worked for the newspaper "The young Leninist" before being deputy editor of the magazine "Nistru" (1963-1968) and editor-in-chief of the State Committee for Publishing, Printing and the Book Trade (1968-1971). Between 1971 and 1986, he was a member of the Writers' Union of Moldova. Liviu Damian published his first poems in the early 1950s.. Read more..
