Vasile Brescanu (1940-2010) studied at the Institute of Arts "Gavril Musicescu" in Chișinău between 1959 and 1963, specializing in theater and cinema, then at the Institute of the Union of Cinematography in Moscow - VGIK between 1965 and 1970, specializing in filmmaking. A graduate of the Faculty of Theater Arts, he was employed as an actor at the "Luceafărul" Theater in Chișinău and then made his big screen debut with a brilliant performance in Emil Loteanu's film "Expect us at Dawn" (role of Vlaicu) in 1963.
