Eminent Persons I (Ceban, Matcovschi, Ciorbă, Cernei)
As it's the case every year, the Post of Moldova has issued on June 7, 2014, a new set of four stamps dedicated to different personalities of Romanian language, famous in the cultural (singing, music, literature) or medicine fields. The official First Day Cover below (print run : 300 only) regarding these four stamps (design : Elena Karachentseva) with a postmark from Chisinau. Tamara Ceban or Ciobanu (1914-1990) was one of the most popular singers (opera, folk music) of Moldova in the second half of the 20th century. She was a soloist for the Soviet Republic of Moldova (MSSR) broadcasting between 1945 and 1951, soloist of the Orchestra of Folk Music "Fluieraș", Deputy Director of the Academy of Music "G. Musicescu" between 1973 and 1980. People's Artist of the USSR, she was also president of the Society of Choral-Music of the MSSR
