The Christian holiday Pentecost (Ancient Greek: Πεντηκοστή [ἡμέρα], Pentēkostē [hēmera], "the fiftieth [day]") is celebrated fifty days after Easter Day, counting inclusively (including both the first and last days), i.e. seven weeks after Easter Day. It falls on the tenth day after Ascension Thursday (which itself is 40 days after Easter). The feast is also called White Sunday, or "Whitsunday", especially in the United Kingdom.

After Palm Sunday ("Floriile"), the Post of Moldova has released on June 19, 2016, a new stamp dedicated to folk traditions and Christian festivals in particular ("Sărbători creştine şi tradiţii populare") through this time the celebration of the "Whitsunday" ("Duminica Mare" in Romanian) during the Pentecost celebrations. Designed again by Elena Karachentseva, that stamp (L 1.75, print run : 200,000) is included on the official FDC below (print run : 400, sale price : L 12) with, once will not hurt, a FDC cancellation from the village of Domulgeni (MD-5018) located in the raion of Floreşti (north-east of the country).
