From July 27 to September 10, 2017, the National Museum of History of Moldova in Chişinău organizes an exhibition of ancient photographs dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the construction of the railway line between Bender (Tighina), a city administered today by the authorities of Transnistria, and the Romanian town of Galaţi, an important port on the Danube river (not far from the south-western border of present-day Moldova). Through these 32 period photographs (by photographer I. Antonopoulo, from Odessa), this exhibition allows visitors to revive the stages of the construction of this 305 km-long line, in a record time, only a little more than 3 months, between 27 July and 4 November 1877.
