The Post of Moldova has already devoted a set of stamps (in 2002) and a prepaid envelope in 2010 (60th anniversary of its creation) to the botanical garden of Chişinău. This botanical garden ("Grădina botanică") was founded in 1950 by the Academy of Sciences of the USSR and is now a research institute within the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Moldova. Located in the Botanica district (south-east of the Moldovan capital), this 76-hectare garden is one of the most frequented places by Moldovan people, with nearly 10,000 species of plants. On May 30, 2017, a new series (4 stamps) was released, illustrating some of the flowers of this botanical garden.
