The Post of Moldova ("Poşta Moldovei") devoted its first stamp issue of the year 2017 to folk traditions, accompanying in particular the first three months of the year (January, February, March). A very nice minisheet composed of 3 stamps (L 5.75 each) + 1 coupon (print run : 64,200 sheets), designed by Lilian Iaţco, was thus put into circulation on January 5, 2017. In the popular Moldovan (and Romanian) tradition, months are the "12 sons of the year" or the old branches of a tree, often associated with meteorological observations and their repercussions on the lives of the inhabitants in rural areas.
