Months of the Year by Their Traditional Folk Names (II)

In the Romanian and Moldovan popular tradition, the calendar has its own names for the months, which appear in certain contexts, for example on the ecclesiastical calendars produced by the Orthodox Church. All these month names are of Latin origin, indicating that their use is prior to the Slavic period (around the 8th century), 6 having their names derived from the characteristics of the months, 5 being derived from the Latin names now used in the Gregorian calendar (however, each of them has a folk etymology and additional meaning) and 1 (December) taking its name from Saint Andrew..
