On August 23, 2018, the Post of Moldova has put into circulation a series of 4 stamps devoted to different types of domestic poultry ("Păsări domestice"), especially duck, goose, rooster and turkey.
These 4 stamps, designed by Vladimir Melnic, were printed each in a sheetlet of 8 stamps + 2 vignettes.
Four different First Day envelopes (print run: 300 each) have been edited for each of these four stamps.
Moldova remains an agricultural country (around 40% of GDP) with a poultry sector producing around 58,000 tonnes of meat and 623 million eggs a year. This sector is intensive and includes more than 40 industrial enterprises, with a stock of about 1.2 million hens and 8 million chickens..
