Alexandru Moșanu (July 19, 1932 in Braniște, Rîșcani – December 7, 2017 in Bucharest) was a Moldovan politician, historian and professor. Alexandru Moșanu was born on July 19, 1932 in Braniște, Romania (now in Rîșcani District, Moldova). He was the first speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova between 1990 and 1993. He was also one of the co-authors of Moldova's 1991 Declaration of Independence.

On December 7 2017, Moldovan historian, university professor and politician Alexandru Moşanu (1932-2017) died in Bucharest at the age of 85. Author of more than 100 books about the history of Bessarabia and Romania, Alexandru Moşanu went down in the contemporary history of the Republic of Moldova by being elected, on September 3, 1990, President of the Moldavian Supreme Soviet (380 members) after the country's first free elections in 1990. After the independence of the country proclaimed on August 27, 1991, this Moldavian Supreme Soviet was replaced by the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova (101 members), the unicameral legislature of the country.
