On August 27, 1991, the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova officially proclaimed the independence of the country that formerly belonged to the USSR. 20 years later (to the day), the Moldovan Post has issued a special souvenir sheet commemorating this proclamation of independence. The very interesting "First Day" souvenir below regarding this issue, with cancellation from Chișinău, the capital. This sheet (designed by Vitalie Roşca) consists of a central stamp (L 4.20) and two attached vignettes containing the text of the declaration of independence of Moldova.
