Following a project presented by Spain, the United Nations General Assembly adopted in May 2021 a resolution in line with its Sustainable Development Goals, proclaiming 2022 the International Year of Glass. The objective is to emphasize the ecological virtues of glass, and its vocation to replace packaging plastics. Spain has promoted its architectural and technological virtues, and the fact that this material can be recycled endlessly.
