The Republic of Moldova has participated as an independent state in the Winter Olympics since 1994 (Lillehammer) and the Post of Moldova had issued sets of stamps dedicated to these Winter Games in 1994, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014. Curiously, no stamp was issued in 2018 for the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics but only a postmark. On February 19, 2022, one day before the end of the competition, the Post of Moldova put into circulation a nice series (2 stamps) dedicated to the 24th Winter Olympic Games ("Jocurile Olimpice de Iarnă"), organized from 4 to 20 February 2022 in Beijing, China. This is the 2nd time that China has organized the Olympic Games after the 2008 Summer Games already celebrated in Beijing, which thus becomes the first city in history to have hosted both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games..
