On March 30, 2021, the Post of Moldova issued a new stamp dedicated to the 200th anniversary (day to day) of the death ("passage into eternity" in Romanian) of Metropolitan Gavriil Bănulescu-Bodoni (1746-1821).
Gavril Bănulescu-Bodoni was a Romanian priest who served as Metropolitan of Moldavia (the historical region shared today by Romania and Moldova) in 1792, Metropolitan of Kherson and Crimea (between 1793 and 1799), Metropolitan of Kiev and Halych (between 1799 and 1803), exarch of the principalities of Moldavia and Wallachia (between 1806 and 1812) then archbishop of Chişinău (between 1812 and 1821), thus being the first head of the church in Bessarabia after the Russian annexation..
